[BadPanda052] Foxes In Fiction – Jimi Bleachball
Foxes in Fiction is the moniker and music / visual art project of Warren Hildebrand who currently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario and has been recording under the name Foxes in Fiction since 2005. Warren is also running an online & limited cassette-based record label, called Orchid Tapes.
“Jimi Bleachball” was written and recorded for a video project and it is off his album, Swung From The Branches (free download on his website, previously available as a cassette on Orchid Tapes and recently re-released on Moodgadget). Hildebrand trades in dreamy, loopy soundscapes, it touches on the softness yet keeps this youthful honesty that is not as common in music these days. Many easily draw comparisons to the solo work of Bradford Cox as Atlas Sound and there are tons of reasons to love him.
I saw my best friend counting his heartbeat
I saw the best days wasted on sleeping in
Try hard to feel it, mind has now wandered
Hands meant to hold hands, kept from the cold, I don’t know
Kids riding two lives, swung from the branches
Kept in our backyards, soon to be sunsets
Oh summer blister, smoking in the van
Go down together, the pavement we’ve conquered
Where do you live actually?
Toronto, Ontario as of last September. Before that I lived in a town called Oakville about 20 minutes outside of the city, but I moved here for school.
What is the last thing you ate?
Breakfast at a diner in Hamilton, Ontario which included rye toast, overeasy eggs, early grey tea, pancakes and sausage.
Staying up too late on the internet.
What do you collect?
I used to collect early White Stripes 7″ singles, but I had to sell them on ebay recently for $. I have a pretty interesting tape collection growing though.
“The first question I ask myself when something doesn’t seem to be beautiful is why do I think it’s not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason.”

Closer by Dennis Cooper
I don’t know, there are a few. I’m playing a show at this place called the Imperial by Young and Dundas in Toronto that isn’t anything too fancy, but it’s a fun place to play. Really cozy.
Broken Social Scene in January 2006 at the Kool Haus in Toronto. I was 16 and I accidentally got really stoned after me friend gave me a super (where you put the lit end of the joint in your mouth and blow smoke out the other end) and I hadn’t been to many concerts before and it was just one of those eye shows concerts that made me realized what kind of emotional effect music could have on your in that kind of setting.
Favourite place on earth?
My cottage near Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
Where would you wish to wake up tomorrow?
Hopefully in my own bed.
