[BadPanda092] Possimiste – Behind The Seas

with 3 comments

Possimiste is a 18-year-old “uber-experimentalist” bluebird-singer/songwriter from Estonia. Often described as a mysterious creature with unique magical mosaic fairylike sounds, she lists influences as Debussy, Arvo Pärt, Mozart, Sigur Ros, Björk.

Behind The Seas is her 4th single and features an euphoric harmonica, an hectic xylophone and fragile vocals.

Where do you live actually?

One part of me lives in the real world, in Estonia, near the sea and the forest, another part in the dream world.

What is the last thing you ate?

A violet plum

Your addiction ?

This unearthly music that starts playing in one`s head sometimes when he/she is half-awake and half-asleep and we cannot explain what it is, but it is so good.

What do you collect?

I collect moments, we all do.

What is your favorite word?

Ring (it means “a round” in Estonian)

One quote?

Life is a deal – deal with it!

One movie?

Edward Scissorhands

One book?

”Kafka on the Shore” by Haruki Murakami

Which song do you listen when you wake up?

Birds sing every morning under my window and my cat is trying to imitate their sound.

A song you wish you wrote yourself?

This unearthly music before falling asleep that I described above.

The song to be played at your funeral?

Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt

A song for relaxing on a beach?

The sea itself, and seagulls, and the flipping sound of the pages of my favourite book.

Your sunday morning track?

Animal Arithmetic by Jónsi

One website?

What do you think about music industry?

I see that “music industry” is fading. People have begun to understand they need music for their soul, and soul needs something that comes from the heart. Music has the right to everybody, no matter whether they are young or old, rich or poor. And if artists love their listeners, it all comes back. The right thing is happening I think..

What do you think about Creative Commons?

In the ancient times music was one of the most important things in everything we did…people shared melodies through many generations, every new person changed them a bit. It gave a song a special value through which we can now discover our roots and ourselves. We can never know the real first author of the song, but those songs are still alive, because there were no distribution restrictions. So CC is basically the same thing, expressing that unselfish love of music we need to keep our music alive so that it can become something much more than just music one day, like a sign we left of us, we all, together.

Favorite venue?

Any forest in the world sounds marvellous!

Favourite concert?

There are two…Sigur Ros´ is one and Massive Attack´s  is another, both in Tallinn

Favourite place on earth?

There is a place where a huge old kettle lies in the long grass and there are thousands of flowers and butterflies and big trees around me. This is the place where the two worlds meet.

Where would you wish to wake up tomorrow?

In someone else`s dream.
