[BadPanda053] Baby Scream – Nicole
Baby Scream is the creature of argentinian Juan Pablo Mazzola and friends (Hernán Pascual, Raúl Marcos and Claudio Salas). Based between Buenos Aires and London, Juan’s vocals are scarily similar to our beloved John Lennon and their music is a combination of classic rock licks and power pop sensibilities close to (obviously) The Beatles, Cheap Trick and The Jayhawks.
The song “Nicole” was included in the mini LP Identity Theft (released earlier this year) and a new album (that will feature a special guest Eric Dover from Jellyfish, Imperial Drag, Sextus and Alice Cooper) is coming out really soon on OK! Records.
PS. Today is Juan’s 30st birthday. Cumpleaños feliz!
Where do you live actually?
In a fucked up world, I am spending 2010 in a part of that world called Argentina.
What is the last thing you ate?
I just finished eating some scrambled eggs and bacon (that I cooked) with brown bread….and a lot of coffe.
Probably mean and stupid people.
What do you collect?
I collect old toys and weird movies from the 70’s. Been doing this for years now.
“Don’t talk to people, people don’t know, they all lie.” I’ve heard this from a crazy homeless guy in Santa Barbara, Calfornia. I remember I wrote it down because I thought it was really funny, sharp guy. Also, there are some amazing Lennon quotes like “After all is said and done you can’t go pleasin’ everyone, so screw it ” from “I’m Stepping Out.”
Cool Hand Luke, starring the one and only Paul Newman. Greatest movie ever.
“Confessions of a B Movie Actor”. It is the Bruce Campbell autobiography, insane, this stuff should be taught at school
Probably something acoustic, maybe Elliot Smith or Cat Stevens.
A song you wish you wrote yourself?
“Desperado” by The Eagles. “Onie” by The Electric Prunes. “Working Class Hero” by Lennon. “I Belong” by Paul Westerberg. “Blue” by The Jayhawks. “Life By The Drop” by Stevie Ray Vaughan. “Catholic Girls” by Enuff Znuff. “You And Your Sister” by Chris Bell. “Rain King” by Counting Crows. “Melody Fair” by The Bee Gees. Too many to mention!!!
“Sitting In Limbo” by Jimmy Cliff

Subrosa Bar in Dortmund, Germany, amazing people and vibe.
Probably one at the Subrosa in 2008, or the last one we did in Buenos Aires in 2009. Now, if you mean other concerts…. Jeff Beck in Buenos Aires, 1998. Cheap Trick sharing the stage with Roger Joseph Manning jr and Jason Falkner (Jellyfish) at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, just a few months ago. Aerosmith was always out of this planet and one I really loved was the Counting Crows at Hyde Park in London, 2008.
Favourite place on earth?
Probably Río de Janeiro in Brazil or somewhere in California.
Where would you wish to wake up tomorrow?
Los Angeles? Where Is My Green Card?
Feel free to add something else you want!
Sure, thanks so much for your space! I am glad you liked my music!
Thank you, Juan!
