[BadPanda115] Shenandoah and the Night – So Low So High
The distinctive Brooklyn based quartet Shenandoah and the Night is a moody pop offering, a haunting, noir-ish sound counter-balanced by bursts of joy and infectious energy, blending and blurring adiverse set of influences that range from the operatic anguish of Nina Simone and Kurt Weill, to the dusky psychedelic sturm und drang of the Doors and Janis Joplin. If you enjoy Anna Calvi, Bat For Lashes, Florence and the Machine, St. Vincent, Warpaint or The National, don’t sleep on this release. Their self-titled debut EP is out on May 15th.

What do you think about music industry?
It’s a bit of a sticky wicket. On the business side, artists tour and play shows to make money, recordings help promote bands and get folks to gigs, maybe you’ll get paid from from a licensing deal etc, but at the end of the day it’s a tough job so you have to love it, love making it.
What about Creative Commons?
‘ve come across it when making music available on Band Camp and never really looked into it beyond that until now. Sounds like a platform that gives artists the choice of whether they will allow access to their concepts to be built upon and re-imagined.
